Business Administration
Level 2
Level 2 will suit you if you are in a junior role and want to broaden your skills to become a future team leader or business manager. You need practical knowledge of more advanced administrative support, for example supporting meetings and events or retrieving information.
To achieve the smaller award, you complete two mandatory units:
• Work in a business environment
• Communicate in a business environment.
You also choose optional units (usually between one and three) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles.
Both the longer certificate and diploma require that you complete four mandatory units:
• Manage own performance in a business environment
• Improve own performance in a business environment
• Work in a business environment
• Communicate in a business environment.
You then choose optional units (usually between three and six for the certificate, between six and ten for the diploma) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles.
Level 3
Level 3 business administration qualification is ideal if you already have some knowledge, understanding and experience of a business administrative role or administrative systems. The qualification is also ideal if you want to develop your skills in order to be able to implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems, also it will help if you want to advance into a more managerial role.
There are two qualifications available at Level 3:
• NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration
• NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration
Both the certificate and the diploma at this level involve four mandatory units:
• Manage own performance in a business environment
• Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment
• Work in a business environment
• Communicate in a business environment.
You also choose optional units (usually between four and six for the certificate, between six and ten for the diploma) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles.
Level 4
Level 4 in business administration s helpful if you deliver administrative support and guidance and contribute at an important level. You may already lead or manage a team and if not you may want to move forward into that role. You will need a range of administrative and management skills such as budgeting management and promoting innovation.
There are two qualifications available at Level 4:
• NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration
• NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration.
To achieve either the certificate or the diploma, you complete six mandatory units:
• Manage and be accountable for own performance in a business environment
• Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment
• Support the purpose and values of an organisation
• Support sustainability in a business environment
• Assess, manage and monitor risk in a business environment
• Communicate in a business environment.
You also choose optional units (usually between two and four for the certificate, and between four and seven for the diploma) from a selection suiting a wide range of job roles.
